Packing for Melbourne Fashion Festival
I'm good at some things, but packing isn’t one of them. Ugh, it literally takes me hours and even then I arrive and have forgotten the essentials. Don’t even get me started on unpacking, sometimes it takes a few weeks… Anyway, two days until I go to Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF)! I’m so excited that I think I started outfit planning a few weeks ago, which sounds crazy but VAMFF has been on my to-do list for a while. Here’s the tips and tricks I’ve been using for packing
Tips for packing
1. Plan your outfits
Unfortunately, you can’t take your whole wardrobe with you on trips, so outfit planning is a must; there’s nothing worse than having a “I have nothing to wear” melt down instead of relaxing and enjoying a weekend away.
2. Pack what you think you’ll need, then take 3 items out
This has worked wonders for me over the past few years, as I am a self-diagnosed chronic over-packer… I always carry way more than the “7kg” limit on planes because I take “back-up” outfits which I really don’t need. A great tip is to use a hat, bag or statement earrings to transition your outfit from day-time to night-time instead of packing two separate outfits.
3. Make a list
Don’t just make the list, try to only pack what’s on the list and take the list with you so you can ensure you bring everything home with you! I cannot count the number of times I have left things behind, I’m pretty sure I have a pair of shoes floating around in Spain and my toiletries bag from 2013 is still somewhere in Melbourne…
4. Dress for the occasion aka Fashion Week
I think the best way to dress for fashion week/any fashion event is to be bold, be comfortable and have fun!
