Self Assessing Your Blog
No one starts out perfect; neither will your blog. If it’s a personal blog, it will change as you do. When I started blogging 6 months ago I knew what I wanted to write about so I chose what categories I had on my blog and was very excited to get writing. As I actually started to blog, I realised it’s a bit more time consuming than I originally thought and perhaps the ideal blog I created wasn’t realistic. Also, I changed. I want my blog to grow and change with I do. I work in healthcare and am very passionate about all aspects of health and well being so I want to reflect this on my blog.
I’ve umm-ed and ahh-ed for a while about adding a mental health section. It’s a big decision. I definitely believe the definition of health includes nutritional, physical and mental aspects, so I decided to have all as separate sections on my blog. I’ve been living with anxiety for years and have found a lot of health/wellness blogs are either really nutrition focused, exercise focused or mental health focused. I haven’t found one that really talks about all three and how each aspect of health impacts on one another, so I think that’s one of my aims at the moment.
In terms of physical health, I will not be posting work out routine videos and all that jazz, that’s not really me; I will never be a fitness model. It’ll just be writing about what motivates me, physical and mental benefits and the importance of exercise. In terms of mental health, I don’t want it to be too specific to me. I want it to be for people with mental health struggles but also for friends and family of people with a mental illness’s. There’s so much that I wish I could’ve told my friends and family about what was going through my head when I was struggling, so maybe it will help friends and family understand why we do the things we do. In terms of nutrition, I just love food. I’m going to include recipes and my favourite places to eat out and all that jazz.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy reading content from these new sections!
