We all know how to be healthy; eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, get 8 hours of sleep, have some "me time" and check in with your GP if anything is out of the ordinary for you. But we also know how hard it is to actually maintain this healthy lifestyle while trying to balance everything life throws at us; working late, family dramas, shopping, finding time to cook nutritious meals etc. etc. We try these diets or exercises "how-ever-many- week challenges" that last a few weeks but maintaining this always seems to be the struggle. Our two favourite excuses are: 

  1. The classic saying "I don't have enough time" 

  2. Other things sit higher on my priorities list

Womens health week is all about encouraging women not to use these two excuses for a week. It reminds women to prioritise their own health in order to take better care of others and to start talking about topics surrounding womens health. There are events held around Australia to help overcome these two excuses as well as podcasts, quizzes, recipes and resources available online on various womens health topics. I encourage you all to get involved in whatever state/territory you live in, even if it's making some time for yourself to read through the Womens Health Week web page and remind yourself that your health is a priority.
